Clothing Swaps
The US produces over 17 million tons of textile waste per year. 66% of unwanted clothing and textiles goes to the landfill, 15% are recycled, and 19% are burned.

At Circular Triangle, one of our missions is to build strong connections with our communities while reducing textile waste. Through clothing swaps and mending workshops, we work to divert clothing from landfills, extending the life of garments and reducing environmental impact.
Clothing swaps not only keep clothing local but also encourage reuse, repurposing, and regeneration, promoting a circular economy for fashion.
As a society, we produce and purchase far more clothing than we actually use—let’s change the narrative together!

FAQs
-
Initially the clothing is sorted into pieces that can be donated to local groups and thrift stores vs. pieces that do not meet the quality criteria.
We partner with groups that distribute clothing locally like Note In The Pocket and Dress For Success. Thrift stores that support local organizations like Dorcas in Cary and Pennies for Change in Durham have also been contacts as well.
The items that cannot be donated are upcycled into patchwork fabric that is used for our boomerang bag project.
